Ticino valley
West of the town, the river is lined with dense woods and wetlands. On the map, this forms a broad, irregular band that contrasts with the farmland.

关于地图
Magenta Map Poster & Print
Magenta lies west of Milan in Lombardy, a short distance from the Ticino river, which marks the border with Piedmont. From above, the town sits on the flat, intensively farmed plain, with the dense woods of the Ticino valley park to the west and the Naviglio Grande canal running nearby in a long, straight line.
The town is best known for the Battle of Magenta in 1859, when French and Piedmontese forces defeated the Austrian army during the Second Italian War of Independence. Soon after, a newly invented purple-red dye was named after the battle, and the word magenta has described that colour ever since.
A Magenta map poster offers a quiet irony: a black-and-white portrait of the town that gave its name to a colour. The plan shows a compact centre, a railway line to Milan and Turin, residential districts around it, and the transition from open fields to the thick green corridor of the Ticino.

Naviglio Grande
The historic canal to Milan passes near the town in a long, straight line. It is one of the clearest man-made features on the plain.
Railway line
The Milan–Turin railway crosses the town. Its straight path divides the residential districts and connects Magenta to both cities.

为什么选 Magenta
一张有意义的地图
Magenta appeals to people who live there, commute to Milan or are interested in the history of the Risorgimento. There is also something quietly clever about hanging a colourless map of a town named after a colour.
You can add your own title and subtitle, perhaps 1859 or a date of your own, and choose from five styles, from Classic black & white to Noir. Order the poster printed or download the $9 HD files.
