Dispersed settlement
Homes and plots spread along roads and paths instead of forming a dense core. On the map this creates a light pattern of clusters with open ground between them.

关于地图
Matongo Map Poster & Print
Matongo is in Tanzania's Mara Region, in the north of the country between the eastern shore of Lake Victoria and the plains leading to the Serengeti. From above, the settlement is loose and spread out. Roads and tracks run across uneven ground, and houses group along them instead of filling tidy blocks, so the pattern changes from one part of the map to another.
The region takes its name from the Mara River, which rises in Kenya and flows across northern Tanzania into Lake Victoria. The land around Matongo is a mix of farms, grazing ground and low hills. Mining has also been part of economic life in this corner of Mara, and it has shaped where roads and new settlements appear.
A Matongo map poster suits this open, spread-out character. The printed sheet is mostly space, crossed by roads that follow the land and small clusters where people have built. It is a modest, faithful image of a place most maps pass over, drawn with the same care as any capital.

Tracks over hills
Minor roads bend around low rises and field boundaries. Their curves show the uneven ground of this part of Mara without the need for contour shading.
Lake Victoria region
Matongo is inland from the eastern shore of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa. It sits within the lake's wider catchment, which is drained in part by the Mara River.
