River Lambro
The river runs through the middle of town in a gentle curve, with bridges stitching the two banks together and the historic streets pressed closest to the water.

关于地图
Melegnano Map Poster & Print
Melegnano lies a short distance southeast of Milan, on the historic road that carried traffic toward Lodi and Piacenza. The river Lambro runs north to south through the town, and the oldest streets keep close to its banks, with the castle standing near the crossing. Around that core, later housing and industrial blocks spread outward until they meet the flat, irrigated fields of the Lombard plain.
Under its older name, Marignano, the town is attached to one of the best-known battles of the Italian Wars: in 1515 the army of Francis I of France defeated the Swiss nearby. A second battle was fought here in 1859. The Castello Mediceo, named for the Medici of Marignano who held it in the sixteenth century, remains the most recognisable building in town.
On a Melegnano map poster the Lambro gives the composition its spine, a single curving line that divides the town into two unequal halves. The Milan to Bologna railway and the A1 motorway, whose Melegnano toll barrier is familiar to anyone driving south from Milan, add firm straight strokes across the plain, framing the older, more irregular centre between them.

Castle at the crossing
The Castello Mediceo and its grounds form a clear, compact block beside the river, the point from which the older street pattern of Melegnano radiates.
Rail and motorway
The railway and the A1 cut long, straight lines across the flat surroundings, contrasting with the short, bending streets of the centre and the regular fields beyond.

为什么选 Melegnano
一张有意义的地图
For people from the south Milan area, Melegnano is a daily landscape of commutes, market days and the river path. A map of it is personal without being sentimental, and the river gives the print a natural focal point on any wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are all editable, so you can mark a wedding, a first home or a year that mattered. Pick one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Sand, and take the $9 digital files or a framed print.
