Minglanilla lies in the south of Metro Cebu, between the Cebu Strait and the hills of the island's interior. Its map is long and narrow in feel: the main coastal highway runs parallel to the shore, and most streets and neighbourhoods branch from it, some reaching up toward the higher ground inland.
The town has grown rapidly as part of the wider Cebu urban area, with new subdivisions spreading into the hills. It is known for its Easter Sunday celebrations, including the Sugat Kabanhawan festival, which draws visitors from across the province.
