Moatize Map Poster & Print
Moatize lies in Tete province in central Mozambique, a short distance east of the city of Tete and the broad Zambezi River. The town has long been associated with coal: the Moatize basin holds some of the largest coal deposits in the region, and large-scale mining has reshaped the landscape around it in recent decades.
From above, the town is a mix of an older centre with a modest grid, informal neighbourhoods with irregular lanes and large industrial sites. Railway lines leave the area to carry coal towards the coast, and haul roads and mine infrastructure extend across the surrounding savanna, giving the map a stark, industrial dimension.
A Moatize map poster shows these layers together: the compact town, the expanding neighbourhoods, the long rail lines and the scale of the mining areas. Rendered in black and white, it becomes a clear portrait of a place defined by its geology and by its link to the Zambezi valley.

Coal railways
Rail lines leave the town carrying coal towards the ports of the coast. On the map they cut long, straight paths through the savanna, adding strong structural lines to the composition.
Zambezi nearby
To the west, the Zambezi and the city of Tete shape the region. Depending on the framing, the wide river can enter the print as a broad, sweeping band of open space.
