Mogok Map Poster & Print
Mogok lies in a high valley in the hills north of Mandalay, and for centuries it has been known for its gemstones. The rubies from this valley, deep red and highly prized, have made Mogok's name familiar to jewellers around the world, and sapphires, spinels and other stones are mined here as well.
The map is shaped by the valley. At the centre lies Mogok Lake, with the town's streets arranged around its shores. Roads climb from the valley floor into the surrounding slopes, twisting to follow the contours, and mining sites and small villages are scattered through the hills.
A Mogok map poster has a distinctive composition. The lake forms a calm open shape at the centre, framed by dense streets and then by the irregular lines of mountain roads. It is a small town with a big reputation, and the map shows it in its setting.
