Rock Island line
The commuter rail line runs on a clean diagonal through the village, one of the few lines on the map that ignores the surrounding north-south grid.

关于地图
Mokena Map Poster & Print
Mokena lies in Will County, Illinois, about thirty miles southwest of downtown Chicago. On the map it shows the familiar layering of the outer suburbs. Section-line roads follow the square survey grid, and between them run the looping streets and cul-de-sacs of the residential subdivisions built as the village grew in the late twentieth century.
The Metra Rock Island line cuts diagonally across the village, a reminder that Mokena grew up around a railroad stop in the nineteenth century. Its small historic centre sits near the tracks, while newer commercial strips follow the larger arterial roads. The village name is often traced to a Potawatomi word for turtle, a detail residents still like to mention.
A Mokena map poster shows how those layers fit together. Straight rail and arterial lines frame the composition, and the soft curves of the neighbourhoods fill the blocks between them. Wooded strips along Hickory Creek open quiet gaps in the street pattern, giving the print a balance of order and looseness that suits a monochrome style.

Subdivision curves
Residential streets bend into loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs, the organic pattern that sets the outer suburbs apart from the rigid blocks closer to Chicago.
Hickory Creek woods
Wooded land along Hickory Creek forms an irregular band of open space on the map, where the street network gives way to trails and trees.

为什么选 Mokena
一张有意义的地图
Mokena is the kind of place where people settle, raise a family and remember things precisely by street name. A poster of it works well as a housewarming gift, as a reminder of a first home, or for someone who has moved away from the Chicago suburbs.
Add your own title and subtitle, perhaps a street or a move-in date, and adjust the coordinates line. There are five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint and Sand. You can download print-ready files for $9 or have the poster printed on matte paper near you.
