Multai Map Poster
Multai lies on the Satpura plateau in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh, and it is best known as the traditional source of the Tapti River. Its name is usually explained as a shortened form of Multapi, meaning the origin of the Tapti. From there the river flows west across central India to the Arabian Sea.
The centre of town is organised around a sacred tank believed to be the river's source, surrounded by temples and ghats. On the map, this pool is a clear, compact shape of water, and the streets of the older town gather closely around it. Further out, the layout becomes more open, with main roads leading toward the district's other towns.
The surrounding plateau is agricultural, with fields, scattered villages and low hills. A Multai map poster shows this sacred centre and its setting: a small body of water, a dense old town and the start of a river that becomes one of India's major westward-flowing rivers.
