Contour-following roads
Local streets curve with the hills rather than cutting across them, drawing loops and bends that give the map a fluid, organic character.

关于地图
Nanpeng Map Poster & Print
Nanpeng is a town in the Banan District of Chongqing, south of the municipality’s central urban area. Like much of Chongqing, the land here is hilly, and streets rarely run in straight lines for long. Roads curve along slopes, climb between ridges and settle into the flatter pockets of ground where most buildings gather.
From above, the town shows the typical pattern of settlements in this terrain: a denser core, newer blocks and industrial areas at its edges, and major roads that wind to avoid the steepest ground. Expressways and arterial roads link Nanpeng to the rest of Chongqing, cutting broader and smoother lines through the landscape than the older local streets.
A Nanpeng map poster works best as a study of terrain expressed through roads. There are no rigid grids here; instead, the lines respond to the hills, creating loops, bends and sudden changes in direction. Printed in black and white, those curves give the poster a sense of movement and depth, even though the map itself is flat.

Expressway links
Wide modern roads pass through and around the town in long, smooth arcs, clearly different in weight from the narrower streets of the older centre.
Clustered blocks
Buildings gather on flatter ground between slopes, so the denser areas appear as distinct clusters rather than one continuous urban mass.
