Irrigation channels
Canals and field channels from the Cauvery system cross the area. They form long, thin lines that organise the surrounding land.

关于地图
Neelagiri Map Poster & Print
Neelagiri lies on the outskirts of Thanjavur, in the Cauvery delta of Tamil Nadu. It is some of the flattest and most thoroughly irrigated land in southern India. From above, residential streets give way to paddy fields divided by channels, and the land is split into small, water-fed plots.
Water defines the map. Canals and distributaries of the Cauvery system run across the area, and temple tanks and village ponds appear as neat rectangles or rounded pools. Streets follow the canal banks and field boundaries, which gives the neighbourhood a slightly irregular grid shaped by irrigation.
Thanjavur, next door, is known for the Brihadeeswarar Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site built under the Chola dynasty. A Neelagiri map poster shows the delta setting of that historic region at the scale of one residential area.

Tanks and ponds
Rectangular tanks and small ponds are spread across the neighbourhood. They appear as clean, solid shapes among the streets and fields.
Paddy field mosaic
Small rice plots surround the built-up streets. From above they create a finely divided patchwork that fills the outer map.
