The old centre
The oldest part of town is a close network of short, irregular lanes, drawn on the map as a dense cluster that thins out steadily toward the fields.

关于地图
Nepalgunj Map Poster & Print
Nepalgunj lies on the level plain of the western Terai, only a few kilometres from the border with India. Because the ground is so flat, the city has spread in every direction without a hill or ridge to stop it. The map shows a tight core of narrow lanes, then looser blocks, then farmland crossed by field tracks and irrigation lines.
The city is the main commercial centre of Banke District and a key transport hub for western Nepal. Its airport handles many of the flights to remote hill and mountain districts, and the road south crosses the border at Rupaidiha, making Nepalgunj a busy trading point between the two countries.
A Nepalgunj map poster captures that plains character. Main roads run out like spokes toward the border, the airport and neighbouring towns, while the older centre is a fine mesh of short streets. With no terrain to shade, the drawing depends entirely on the pattern of roads, which gives it a delicate, textile-like quality.

Road to the border
A main road runs south from the city to the crossing into India at Rupaidiha, a straight line that explains much of the city's trading life.
The airport
Nepalgunj's airport sits beside the city, and its runway is one of the few long straight shapes on an otherwise fine-grained map of the plain.

一张有意义的地图
For people from western Nepal, Nepalgunj is often the city where journeys begin, whether by air into the hills or by road across the border. A map of it is a quiet reminder of home, family or a period spent there.
