Nowshahr Map Poster & Print
Nowshahr is on the Caspian coast of Mazandaran province in northern Iran. It sits on a thin strip of flat land between the sea and the steep, wooded Alborz mountains. The map follows this setting closely. The shoreline runs along the north, the coast road runs parallel to it, and the town's streets fill the narrow gap between the water and the hills.
The town has a commercial port, one of Iran's Caspian harbours, and is home to the Iranian Navy's officer academy. Nearby Chalus is the northern end of the Chalus Road, the famous mountain route from Tehran. For many Iranians, this stretch of coast means summer holidays, rice fields, citrus orchards and damp green forest.
