Rocky hills
Granite outcrops rise in and around the town. On the map they appear as unbuilt islands that roads and houses wrap around.

关于地图
Okene Map Poster & Print
Okene lies in Kogi State in central Nigeria, in a landscape of rocky hills and granite outcrops. From above, the town's roads look as if they are finding their way through the terrain rather than being laid on top of it. Clusters of houses fill the flatter ground between the rocks, and the main routes curve around the high points before meeting in the centre.
The town is the traditional heartland of the Ebira people and an important seat of their culture and leadership. Its position has long made it a crossing point: major roads through Okene link Lokoja and the north with Benin City and the south-west, so the town has a steady flow of travellers and trade passing through its junctions.
An Okene map poster shows an irregular, organic street pattern shaped by the land. The open spaces left by the hills are just as important as the roads, and in black and white they give the composition a strong rhythm of dense and empty areas. It is a map that reflects the ground it is drawn on.

Road junction
Several regional highways converge here, and their long lines entering the town from different directions give the poster a clear structure.
Organic street pattern
Rather than a grid, local streets follow the terrain, producing a web of curving lanes and small irregular blocks across the town.

为什么选 Okene
一张有意义的地图
Okene is a meaningful map for the Ebira community at home and in the diaspora, and for anyone whose journeys through central Nigeria have passed through its junction. It captures the hills as much as the streets.
You can set the title, add a subtitle with a family name or date, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand suits the stony landscape well.
