Valley-floor core
The built-up area stretches along the bottom of the valley, so the town looks long and narrow and follows the course of the water instead of spreading out evenly.

关于地图
Pan’an Map Poster & Print
Pan’an sits in the hill country of eastern Gansu, where the Loess Plateau breaks into valleys and folded ridges. From above, the town is a narrow band of built blocks along a valley floor. Its roads mostly run in the same direction as the water, and the slopes above rise quickly into farmland cut by gullies. It is a shape set by the terrain, not by any planner.
On a black-and-white map, the contrast between the dense core and the empty hills around it becomes the whole picture. A few main streets carry most of the lines. Smaller lanes branch off at short intervals and stop where the ground gets steep. Further out, isolated tracks wind toward villages spread across the plateau, which gives the edges of the print a loose, drifting texture.
A Pan’an map poster suits anyone with family ties to this part of Gansu, or anyone drawn to places where geography sets the plan. Eastern Gansu has been farmed for a very long time, and its towns grew along river corridors that also served as travel routes. That long pattern of valley settlement is still visible here in plain linework.

Loess hills
The ground around the town is cut by gullies and field terraces. Paths and farm tracks trace faint contour-like lines across the paper.
Road corridor
The main road runs along the valley and connects Pan’an with the neighbouring towns of the region, giving the map a strong line from one side to the other.

为什么选 Pan’an
一张有意义的地图
People hang this map to remember a hometown or a family origin in rural Gansu, or simply because they like how clearly a valley town reads on paper. It shows the real layout of the place without decoration, which suits calm, simple interiors.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a year that matters to you. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download HD files for $9 or order a matte print, with an optional wooden frame.
