Pančevo Map Poster & Print
Pančevo lies in southern Banat, part of Serbia's Vojvodina province, on the left bank of the Tamiš a short distance above where it flows into the Danube. Belgrade is close by across the water, yet the city keeps its own character. On a map the old centre shows the fairly regular street layout typical of Banat towns, with long, straight streets running toward the river.
The city has one of the oldest brewing traditions in the region, associated with the Weifert family and dating back to the early eighteenth century. It is also home to a large oil refinery and petrochemical complex on its southern side, whose tanks and pipelines make a striking geometric block on the map. The Tamiš curves gently past the centre between green banks.
