Hill-following roads
The main roads curve along ridges and valleys instead of running straight. Each bend reflects the rolling laterite terrain of northern Kerala.

关于地图
Patiriyat Map Poster & Print
Patiriyat lies in the Kannur district of northern Kerala, a short distance inland from the Malabar coast. The land here is more rolling than in central Kerala. Low laterite hills and valleys alternate, and small streams run down towards the sea, and the road network has to bend constantly to follow the terrain.
As in much of Kerala, houses do not cluster into a tight town. They spread along the roads and across the slopes, surrounded by coconut, areca and cashew trees. From above, this produces a soft, branching pattern of routes with many small junctions and very few straight lines.
A Patiriyat map poster captures that organic quality. Curving roads trace the hills, minor lanes lead off to homes and farms, and the spaces between are filled with greenery. The result is a gentle, flowing drawing, very different from the grids of planned cities.

Branching lanes
Countless smaller lanes split off from the main routes and lead to scattered homes. Together they form a fine, tree-like pattern across the map.
Streams and valleys
Small watercourses wind through the low ground between the hills. They add thin, irregular lines to the picture and hint at the region's drainage towards the coast.

为什么选 Patiriyat
一张有意义的地图
Many families from Kannur live and work far from home. A map of Patiriyat's winding roads and green slopes keeps a picture of the village close, wherever the poster ends up.
Add a family or house name, a wedding date or a few words to the title and subtitle, and set the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
