Pingdu Map Poster
Pingdu is a county-level city administered by Qingdao in Shandong province, but it lies well inland from the coast and the port. Seen from above, it is a compact urban core in a wide agricultural plain, where fields, villages and straight rural roads cover most of the land. The city stands on fairly level ground, which lets its streets run in long, regular lines.
The central district follows a broadly rectangular layout, with main avenues crossing at right angles and newer residential blocks filling in the edges. Small rivers and drainage channels cross the surrounding land. At poster scale they appear as thin lines threading between the farmland and the city grid. The overall effect is orderly and easy to read.
For people from Pingdu, the familiar view is not the sea but the plain, and the map reflects that.
