Irrigation channels
Straight canals and ditches cross the township and divide the farmland into long parcels, giving the map a grid that grew from farming rather than planning.

关于地图
Pitou Map Poster & Print
Pitou is a rural township in southern Changhua County, on the broad alluvial plain of western Taiwan. From above there is no single dense centre. Instead the map shows several small clusters of streets, linked by country roads and surrounded by fields.
Farming has shaped the layout. Irrigation canals and ditches run in long straight lines, field boundaries form rough rectangles, and village lanes wind between them. Roads here tend to follow old field edges and water channels rather than a planned grid, so the pattern is fine-grained and a little irregular.
A Pitou map poster captures the texture of lowland Taiwan outside the big cities: open, flat and closely farmed, with the Central Mountain Range out of frame far to the east. It is a quiet subject, and the detail comes from the many small lines of roads and water rather than from any one landmark.

Scattered village cores
Instead of one downtown, small groups of streets are spread across the plain, each a knot of lanes where the roads meet.
Open alluvial plain
The level ground of the Changhua plain lets the pattern spread evenly to every edge of the print, with no hills to interrupt it.

为什么选 Pitou
一张有意义的地图
For families from Changhua, or anyone who spent summers in rural central Taiwan, this map records a place that rarely appears on a wall. Its fine lines of lanes and channels read well in a minimalist style.
Give it your own title and subtitle, or put a date or family name in the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download 300 DPI files for $9 or order a printed poster.
