Railway line
The line between Katpadi and Tiruvannamalai crosses the town in a long, steady stroke, set apart from the more irregular street pattern around it.

关于地图
Polūr Map Poster & Print
Polūr is a town in Tiruvannamalai district, in northern Tamil Nadu. It sits on the plains east of the Javadhu Hills, whose forested slopes rise a short distance to the west. The town serves the surrounding villages as a local market centre, and it lies on the road and rail routes that link Vellore and Katpadi with Tiruvannamalai and the country further south.
From above, Polūr has a dense older core of narrow streets and closely packed buildings. Main roads leave it in several directions. The railway line cuts across the town on its own straight course, and on the edges the built-up area opens into irrigated fields and the tanks, or reservoirs, typical of the Tamil countryside.
A Polūr map poster captures that mix of close-grained town and open agricultural land. The rail line and the main roads give the composition firm structure, while the older lanes add fine detail at the centre. It is a modest place on the map, but its layout tells a clear story about how market towns in this part of India are organised.

Dense old centre
At the core, narrow streets and tightly packed plots create the darkest part of the map, where most of the town's trade has always happened.
Fields and tanks
Around the town, the drawing opens up into farmland dotted with water tanks, the traditional reservoirs that hold monsoon rain for the dry months.
