Potomac Map Poster & Print
Potomac is a largely residential community in Montgomery County, Maryland, northwest of Washington, D.C. On a map it looks very different from the street grid of the capital. Long, curving roads and cul-de-sacs wind through wooded lots, and the southern edge follows the Potomac River, where the land drops steeply to rocky water.
Along that river runs the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, a nineteenth-century waterway whose towpath is now a national historical park. Nearby are the Great Falls of the Potomac, where the river narrows and crashes through a gorge. The area is also known for its golf courses and for River Road, an old route running parallel to the water.
A Potomac map poster shows a suburban pattern shaped by woodland and slope. Few streets run straight, and large lots leave wide gaps between them. The river and canal cut a long double line along the bottom, which gives the whole design a firm base.
