Qingfeng lies in the west of Chongqing municipality, in the rolling hills between the Yangtze and the Sichuan basin. The countryside here is rounded rather than steep, and the map shows a small town at a junction of roads. The streets are arranged around a main road, and houses spread out along the routes leading away from the centre.
The surrounding land is farmed intensively, with fields, ponds and small reservoirs filling the dips between the hills. In a line drawing, the ponds appear as scattered shapes throughout the countryside, and the rural roads bend between them. The town's compact core contrasts with this looser pattern.
