Qinggang lies in the western part of Chongqing municipality, in the rolling country between the city's central districts and the wider Sichuan Basin. The landscape is made of low hills, small valleys and reservoirs, and the town's map carries all three: roads that curve around rises, fields between them and scattered bodies of water.
Like many places around Chongqing, Qinggang has grown quickly. Wide, straight avenues laid out for new residential and industrial areas sit next to older, narrower streets that follow the ground more closely.
