Redlands Map Poster & Print
Redlands lies in the eastern Inland Empire of Southern California, on rising ground between the Santa Ana River wash and the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. Its map combines a compact downtown grid, residential streets that curve into the southern hills, and the long straight roads of former citrus groves, some of which remain.
In the late nineteenth century Redlands grew rich on navel oranges, and wealthy winter residents built large Victorian houses on its streets. Much of that heritage survives, including the A.K. Smiley Public Library and the open-air Redlands Bowl in Smiley Park. The University of Redlands occupies a large campus on the northeast side of town.
A Redlands map poster shows these layers together: the downtown grid, the university's quads, the curving hillside streets and the orderly former groves. Interstate 10 crosses the north of town, and the wide riverbed of the Santa Ana marks its northern edge.
