关于地图
Ribeirão da Ilha Map Poster & Print
Ribeirão da Ilha is a district in the south of Florianópolis, on the southwestern shore of Santa Catarina Island. It faces the calm waters of the South Bay and looks across to the mainland. From above it appears as a long, thin settlement squeezed between the water's edge and the forested hills of the island's interior.
Almost everything follows the coastal road, which winds along the shore past small coves and points. Houses line both sides, and short lanes climb a little way up the slopes before the forest takes over. The result is a strongly linear map, more a ribbon than a town, with the bay filling much of the frame.
The area was settled by Azorean immigrants in the eighteenth century and is known today for oyster farming in the waters offshore. A Ribeirão da Ilha map poster shows this coastal ribbon at full length. The irregular shoreline and the undeveloped hills give it a calm, open composition.

South Bay waters
The sheltered bay between the island and the mainland fills much of the frame. It leaves generous open space beside the coast.
Forested hills
Behind the shoreline, the island's green hills rise with few roads. The settlement ends abruptly against a wide unbuilt area.
