The Sagua river
The river that gives the town its name curves past the built area. It sets a flowing line against the regular streets and forms one side of the composition.

关于地图
Sagua de Tánamo Map Poster & Print
Sagua de Tánamo is a town in Holguín Province, in the far east of Cuba. The mountains of the Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa system rise behind it and the Atlantic coast lies not far to the north. The town takes its name from its river, which shapes much of the settlement's outline on the map.
From above, the town has a compact grid of blocks that follows the lie of the valley rather than a perfect square. Streets end where the ground rises or the river bends. A few roads leave along the valley, connecting the town with the coast and with other settlements in the eastern hills.
A Sagua de Tánamo map poster is for people who know this part of Cuba personally, perhaps through family, work or a long stay in Oriente. The map is modest in scale but has a strong setting. The river and the surrounding terrain give the small grid a definite edge and a sense of place.

Valley grid
The town centre follows the Spanish colonial habit of square blocks, adjusted to fit the valley floor and the bends of the water.
Roads into the hills
Routes leave the town along the valley towards the coast and neighbouring towns. On the map they read as thin threads through a sparsely built landscape.
