Mogami River mouth
The river widens as it reaches the sea, cutting a broad, smooth band through the map and marking the town's historic role as a gateway for rice shipments.

关于地图
Sakata Map Poster & Print
Sakata sits on the Sea of Japan coast in Yamagata Prefecture, where the Mogami River meets the sea. From above, the river's wide final stretch and the port basins frame the older town, whose streets form a fairly regular grid on the flat ground. Beyond them the rice fields of the Shonai Plain spread out in neat rectangles, and a long, gently curving shoreline of dunes and pine belts runs along the coast.
For centuries Sakata was a major port for shipping rice. The Sankyo Soko rice warehouses, with their row of zelkova trees along the river, remain from that era. The Homma family of merchants became famous for their wealth here. To the north, Mount Chokai rises above the plain, and the city's area also includes the island of Tobishima offshore.
A Sakata map poster reads like a meeting of river, sea and field. The Mogami's mouth gives the composition a strong anchor, the port adds straight quays and basins, and the grid of the town sits between water and farmland. It is a calm, balanced map with a clear story about how the town made its living.

Riverside warehouses
The Sankyo Soko storehouses line the water in a long row, a small but distinct strip of buildings between the river and the town streets.
Shonai Plain
Behind the town, rice paddies form a patchwork of rectangular plots crossed by straight farm roads, a geometric counterpoint to the curving coast.

为什么选 Sakata
一张有意义的地图
Sakata suits anyone drawn to places shaped by water and trade: a river port, a long coast, a plain of rice fields. As a print it feels grounded and unhurried, a good fit for a study or a hallway where a busy image would feel out of place.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a family name or the year of a visit. Blueprint suits the port and river well, while Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Sand give warmer or starker alternatives.
