The Niger riverfront
The river runs along the entire northern side of the town, wide and slow, giving the poster a broad open area of water and a long, gently curving shoreline.

关于地图
Ségou Map Poster & Print
Ségou stretches along the southern bank of the Niger River in central Mali, and the river is the defining feature of its map. The town extends in a long band beside the water, with streets running parallel to the bank and others leading down to landing places used by boats and fishing canoes.
In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries Ségou was the capital of the Bambara Empire, one of the major states of the western Sahel. The colonial period added administrative buildings near the riverfront, many in a distinctive earthen-inspired style, and the older quarters behind them keep the dense, courtyard-based pattern typical of Sahelian towns.
Downstream, the Markala dam diverts water into the canals of the Office du Niger, one of the largest irrigation schemes in West Africa. For many years Ségou also hosted the Festival sur le Niger, with stages set up on the riverbank. A Ségou map poster shows the town, the river and the plain in one open composition.

Colonial quarter
Near the water, a group of administrative buildings from the colonial period sits along wide streets, a more formal pattern than the dense lanes of the older quarters.
Courtyard lanes
Behind the waterfront, older neighbourhoods form tight blocks of courtyard houses and narrow lanes, a close texture that contrasts with the open river and plain.

为什么选 Ségou
一张有意义的地图
Ségou matters to many Malians as a historic capital and a river town, and to visitors who remember the festival or the pottery villages across the water. A map of its long shoreline makes a quiet, graphic piece for a home or an office.
Add a title and subtitle in French, Bambara or English, and edit the coordinates line to mark a quarter or a date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download the HD files for $9 or order a matte print from a partner near you.
