Gulf of Guinea coast
The shoreline curves through a series of points and coves, drawing a restless edge that gives the entire poster its sense of movement.

关于地图
Sekondi Map Poster & Print
Sekondi is one half of Sekondi-Takoradi, the capital of Ghana's Western Region, and the two towns have grown together along the Gulf of Guinea coast. On a map the shoreline is the defining element. Rocky headlands, small bays and beaches alternate, and the streets behind them climb gentle hills before thinning out into green land inland.
Sekondi is the older of the pair, a historic fishing and trading settlement where the Dutch built Fort Orange above the bay. Takoradi, a short distance to the west, received Ghana's first deep-water harbour in the late 1920s, and its breakwaters and quays still create the sharpest geometric shapes along this stretch of coast.
Offshore oil was discovered in 2007, and since then the area has become known as the centre of Ghana's petroleum industry, with new districts spreading along the roads between the towns. A Sekondi map poster shows the older coastal quarters, the harbour and this newer growth as a single continuous line of settlement.

Takoradi harbour
Long breakwaters and straight quays reach into the sea west of Sekondi. This is the most engineered shape on the coast, and the harbour is the reason the twin city grew.
Fort Orange
Above Sekondi's bay stands Fort Orange, a Dutch trading post later used as a lighthouse, marking the historic heart of the older town.

为什么选 Sekondi
一张有意义的地图
People from the Western Region, and those who have worked in the oil and port industries here, recognise this coastline at once. Personalise the poster with a title such as Sekondi-Takoradi, a subtitle naming your neighbourhood and a date, plus the coordinates line.
Blueprint works well for a harbour city, Paper and Sand feel softer and warmer, and Classic black & white and Noir complete the five styles. Download HD files for $9, or order a matte print shipped by partners in 30+ countries, framed in wood if you wish.
