Sevenoaks Map Poster & Print
Sevenoaks sits on a ridge of the Greensand hills in west Kent, and its map is dominated by an unusual neighbour. Immediately southeast of the town centre lies Knole, a great house surrounded by around a thousand acres of deer park. On paper, this appears as a huge open space pressed against the High Street, with the town's streets flowing around it.
The High Street runs roughly north to south along the ridge, connected to residential roads that descend the slopes. Sevenoaks School, one of the oldest schools in England, sits at its southern end near the entrance to the park. The town's name refers to a group of oaks, and after the storm of 1987 felled most of the trees on the Vine, new ones were planted.
Downhill to the northwest, the railway station and the neighbourhoods around it reflect the town's quick connection to London, while the North Downs rise beyond the Darent valley. A Sevenoaks map poster captures an English market town shaped by a ridge, a railway and one very large park.
