Linear valley town
Shaoyu stretches along its valley floor, so the map shows a long, narrow band of streets instead of a round or square town.

关于地图
Shaoyu Map Poster & Print
Shaoyu is a town in south-eastern Gansu Province, in the hilly country south of Tianshui where the Loess Plateau meets the mountains of the Qinling range. From above, the town is stretched along a river valley, with streets and buildings filling the flat valley floor and the hills rising steeply on both sides.
In this landscape, settlement follows the valleys. Roads run along the rivers, villages sit on terraces and river bends, and the slopes above are often shaped into fields. Shaoyu fits that pattern, and its map shows a town that grows lengthwise, not outward, because the terrain leaves it little choice.
A Shaoyu map poster presents a town shaped almost entirely by geography. The river and the main road run side by side, the streets line up along them, and the hills around create empty space in the frame. It's a narrow, flowing composition, very different from a city on a plain.

River and road
A river and the main road follow the valley side by side, forming the two strongest lines on the poster and linking the town to its neighbours.
Hills on both sides
Steep slopes rise above the valley. On the map they appear as open space with a few winding roads, framing the built-up area.

为什么选 Shaoyu
一张有意义的地图
Shaoyu is for people from the town and from the Tianshui area, including those who have moved to larger cities. The shape of the valley makes the poster instantly recognisable to anyone who knows it.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example in Chinese or English, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9 and include six sizes, from A3 to 24×36″.
