Sombrio Map Poster & Print
Sombrio lies in the far south of Santa Catarina, on the coastal plain between the hills and the Atlantic. The area's most distinctive map feature is the Lagoa do Sombrio, a long freshwater lagoon parallel to the coast and one of the largest in the state. On a map it appears as a long, smooth shape of water, larger than the town itself.
The town has a mostly regular street grid, set on flat ground that makes its layout easy to see. The BR-101 highway, the main coastal route in southern Brazil, runs nearby, and the local roads branch toward it. Rice fields and other farmland fill the low ground around the town and the lagoon, dividing it into long, narrow plots.
East of the lagoon, a strip of sand and dunes separates it from the ocean. A Sombrio map poster can focus closely on the town grid, or widen to show the relationship between town, lagoon and coast, with three parallel bands of land and water running along the southern shore.
