Songling Map Poster & Print
Songling lies in the Wujiang district of Suzhou, in one of the most water-rich landscapes in China. On the map, canals and small rivers cut through the town. Ponds and fish farms fill the land around it, and the wide surface of Lake Tai opens to the west. Modern avenues and new residential blocks now overlay an older pattern that was shaped by water.
Songling has long been the administrative centre of Wujiang. The Grand Canal runs through the area, and for centuries it carried grain and silk between the south and the north. The region is still associated with silk production and with the canal towns of southern Jiangsu, where daily life has long depended on boats, bridges and waterside streets.
