关于地图
Sorgues Map Poster & Print
Sorgues sits a few kilometres north of Avignon, in the flat country where the rivers Ouvèze and Sorgue meet just before joining the Rhône. In the fourteenth century, the Avignon popes kept a residence here. Much later, in the summer of 1912, Picasso and Braque both worked in the town. Braque's papier collé experiments date from that stay.
On a map, water is what defines Sorgues. Rivers and channels curve across the town, dividing the older centre from the neighbourhoods around it. The Rhône, broad and slow, marks the western edge. Railway lines and main roads heading south to Avignon and north to Orange cut long straight lines through the gentle curves of the rivers.
A Sorgues map poster suits people with ties to the Vaucluse, and art lovers who remember the town's place in the story of Cubism. The print shows the meeting of the rivers, the compact centre and the steady lines of road and rail heading towards Avignon.

The Rhône edge
The broad Rhône runs past on the west side. It is the widest feature on the print and gives the town a strong boundary.
Road and rail corridor
Straight routes towards Avignon and Orange pass through the town. They cross the curving rivers and add structure to the composition.
