The Alaknanda bend
The river is the widest feature on the sheet. It sweeps past the town in a broad curve and sets the northern edge of the settlement, so the whole composition reads around it.

关于地图
Srīnagar Map Poster & Print
Srīnagar sits in the Garhwal Himalaya of Uttarakhand, where the Alaknanda River widens into one of the few open valley floors along its course. From above, the town is a dense cluster of streets on the flat ground by the water. Beyond it, contour-hugging roads climb into the hills, and the river's curve sets the edge of everything built.
For centuries this was the seat of the Garhwal kings, before the capital moved elsewhere in the nineteenth century. Today it is known as a university town and as a stop on the pilgrim road toward the high shrines upstream. The main highway runs along the valley, and smaller lanes branch off it toward the riverbank and the slopes.
A Srīnagar map poster shows how a Himalayan town takes the shape of its terrain. The built area follows the flat land, the river curves along one side, and the hills show up as thinning lines of road. In black and white it looks almost like a topographic sketch, with the valley held between steep ground.

Valley-floor grid
On the flat ground by the river, streets pack together tightly. They form the densest part of the map, and it ends abruptly where the land begins to rise.
Hill roads
Narrow roads switch back and forth up the surrounding slopes. They trace the gradient in thin lines that show the shape of the hills without any shading.

为什么选 Srīnagar
一张有意义的地图
For people who studied here, grew up in the valley or passed through on the way to the upper Garhwal shrines, this map is a quiet reminder of a particular place between the mountains. It keeps the river, the town and the slopes in one frame.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a graduation year or family name, and a coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. It comes as a $9 HD download in six sizes, or as a printed poster.
