Terraced streets
Rows of parallel terraces surround the centre, creating a fine, regular striped texture that is one of the most characteristic patterns of northern English towns.

关于地图
St Helens Map Poster & Print
St Helens lies in Merseyside, between Liverpool and Wigan, on gently rolling ground that was once dense with collieries and works. Its map shows a compact town centre surrounded by closely packed terraced streets, which give way to larger estates, parks and reclaimed industrial land toward the edges, all crossed by railway lines and main roads.
The town is best known for glass: Pilkington was founded here in the nineteenth century and developed the float glass process in the 1950s. St Helens is also linked to the Sankey Canal, opened in 1757 and often described as the first canal of the Industrial Revolution in England. Its rugby league club, the Saints, is one of the most successful in the sport.
A St Helens map poster records a town shaped by work: the tight rhythm of terraced rows, the sweeping curves of railway lines and the open spaces where mines and factories once stood. Seen in black and white, it has a pleasing industrial clarity that suits people with family roots in the town or the wider Lancashire coalfield.

Sankey Canal
The route of the historic canal runs south from the town toward the Mersey, a thin line that marks the beginning of England's canal age.
Parks and open land
Large green areas such as Victoria Park and Sherdley Park, along with former industrial sites, open up the map between the denser neighbourhoods.
