Sunbury-on-Thames sits on the north bank of the Thames in the borough of Spelthorne. It was historically part of Middlesex and is now in Surrey. The river forms its southern edge, and the map is organised around that long, gentle curve: older streets and riverside houses near the water, with suburban roads spreading north toward the reservoirs and open land beyond.
Sunbury Lock and its weir split the river into parallel channels with small islands between them, a detail that shows clearly from above. Within the town lies Kempton Park, whose racecourse oval is one of the most recognisable shapes on the local map, while the M3 motorway cuts a straight line through the streets on its way toward London.
