Chama valley
The river and the valley road run along the length of the town. Together they create a strong, flowing axis that the whole composition follows.

关于地图
Tabay Map Poster & Print
Tabay lies in the state of Mérida in the Venezuelan Andes, northeast of the city of Mérida, in the upper valley of the Chama River. From above, the town stretches along the valley. The main road and the river run side by side, streets branch off wherever the ground allows, and steep slopes rise on both sides.
The geography is dramatic for a town of this size. Mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Mérida rise to the southeast, and the valley narrows as it climbs toward the high páramo. On the map, the town looks like a long, narrow band with side streets reaching into the hills. Relief and river do more to define the shape than any planned grid.
Tabay is a common starting point for trips into the mountains above Mérida and is known for its cool climate and nearby hot springs. A Tabay map poster suits hikers and climbers who began their routes here, students who lived in the valley during their years at university in Mérida, and families who have always called this stretch of the Chama home.

Side streets upslope
Short streets branch from the valley floor into the hills. They thin out quickly where the slope becomes too steep to build on.
Mountain frame
High ridges enclose the valley on both sides. In the Blueprint or Noir styles, the contrast between the narrow town and the empty slopes is especially striking.
