关于地图
Tambopata Map Poster & Print
Tambopata is the province in Peru's Madre de Dios region whose capital, Puerto Maldonado, sits at the confluence of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. On a map the rivers dominate everything: two broad, looping channels meeting at a point, with the town built on the ground between them and rainforest pressing in from every other side.
The urban area is laid out as a grid of blocks near the confluence, with main avenues running inland and the airport's long runway set a short distance away. The Interoceanic Highway crosses the Madre de Dios on a large bridge, a rare straight line in a landscape otherwise shaped by meanders, oxbow lakes and sandbars.
The area is a gateway to the Tambopata National Reserve, one of the most biodiverse protected areas in the Amazon basin, and many travellers pass through on their way to river lodges. A Tambopata map poster shows the moment where the town ends and the forest begins, drawn in simple lines that leave the rivers to carry the image.

Meanders and oxbows
Away from the town, the rivers loop back on themselves and leave crescent-shaped lakes behind, the typical signature of a lowland Amazon river seen from above.
Interoceanic bridge
The highway bridge over the Madre de Dios is one of the few straight lines in the landscape, part of the road that links southern Peru with Brazil.
