关于地图
Tochio-honchō Map Poster & Print
Tochio lies in a valley in Niigata Prefecture, now part of the city of Nagaoka, in one of the snowiest regions of Japan. A river runs through the valley, and wooded hills rise on either side. From above, the town's streets follow the valley floor in a long, narrow form, and smaller roads climb away into the surrounding hills.
The town is known for its gangi, covered wooden walkways built along the fronts of shops so that people can move through the street during heavy winter snow. Tochio is also known across Japan for its aburaage, unusually large pieces of deep-fried tofu that are a local specialty.
A Tochio-honchō map poster shows how the town is shaped by its valley. Streets run parallel to the river and pack tightly together at the centre, then thin out toward the edges, where roads curve up into the hills. It is a long, elegant form that works well in a vertical poster.

River valley
A river runs along the length of the valley, and the town's streets line up alongside it. The result is a long, narrow shape framed by hills on both sides.
Hill roads
Smaller roads leave the valley floor and wind up into the forested slopes. They branch into fine lines that soften the edges of the map.

为什么选 Tochio-honchō
一张有意义的地图
Tochio is a place people remember for its snow, its covered streets and its food. A map poster of the town is a quiet reminder of home for anyone who grew up there, or of a winter journey through Niigata.
Personalise the title and subtitle in English or Japanese, add a date, and keep or change the coordinates. There are five styles to choose from, and Noir suits the snowy setting nicely. HD files cost $9, or you can order a printed poster.
