关于地图
Toledo Map Poster & Print
Toledo is one of the most recognisable city plans in Europe. The Tagus cuts a deep gorge in a tight loop around a rocky hill, enclosing the old city on three sides. On the map, this gives a near-island of dense, twisting streets inside a clean curve of river, with walls and gates closing the open north side.
Inside the loop, the medieval street plan is almost unchanged. Narrow lanes wind between the cathedral, the square bulk of the Alcázar on the highest point, and the former Jewish quarter to the west. Two old bridges, Alcántara to the east and San Martín to the west, cross the gorge and link the city with the hills beyond.
Known as the city of three cultures for its Christian, Muslim and Jewish heritage, Toledo has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986 and was El Greco's home. A Toledo map poster frames the whole meander, with the dense old town, the river's curve and the newer districts spreading across the plain to the north.

Medieval street maze
A dense web of lanes fills the hilltop, with no straight line longer than a few blocks. It looks like fine lacework on the poster.
Historic bridges
The Alcántara and San Martín bridges cross the gorge at either end of the loop. They mark the old gateways into the city.

Toledo is a map people hang after a trip they still talk about, a year of study in Spain, or a wedding held within sight of the cathedral. Its shape is so distinctive that it works as a piece of design even for those who have never been there.
