Viborg in Central Jutland is one of Denmark's oldest towns. For centuries it was a place of assembly, where Danish kings were acclaimed at the regional ting, and its cathedral, with twin towers visible from far away, remains the centre of the old town. On the map, the medieval streets gather closely around the cathedral hill.
Just east of the centre, two long lakes, Nørresø and Søndersø, lie side by side, separated by a narrow strip of land. They form the strongest shapes on the poster, framing the old town with water. Around them, parks and paths follow the shore, while newer residential areas spread out to the west and south into the gently rolling Jutland countryside.
