关于地图
Winona Map Poster & Print
Winona, Minnesota, has one of the most distinctive settings on the upper Mississippi. The city was built on a long sandbar between the river and the channels that now form Lake Winona. Tall bluffs rise behind it, among them Sugar Loaf, whose quarried rock peak can be seen from across town. The streets form a regular grid squeezed between water on both sides.
The city grew in the nineteenth century as a river port and lumber town. Today it is home to Winona State University and Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, and its downtown has a large group of historic commercial buildings. Latsch Island and the river bridges link the city to Wisconsin.
A Winona map poster makes the most of this geography. The grid is compressed between the broad Mississippi and the two basins of Lake Winona, bridges cross to the islands and the bluffs frame the south. Few towns this size produce such a strong outline.

Mississippi riverfront
The wide river forms the northern edge of the city, with Latsch Island and the bridge to Wisconsin crossing it.
Bluffs and Sugar Loaf
Steep bluffs rise behind the city, and roads wind up through them, which marks the edge of the flat river terrace.
