关于地图
Zaandam Map Poster & Print
Zaandam takes its name from the dam built across the river Zaan where it meets the IJ, near Amsterdam. For centuries the river was lined with windmills sawing wood, grinding spices and pressing oil, which made the Zaan region one of Europe's earliest industrial landscapes. On a map the river is the clear spine, with the town stretched along both banks.
Much of the older settlement grew as ribbon development along dikes. Long streets follow the water, with narrow plots running back into the polder. Beyond them, a fine network of drainage ditches divides the flat land into long, thin fields. That pattern of lines makes the area especially graphic from above.
Peter the Great stayed here in 1697 to study shipbuilding, and his small wooden house still survives. Claude Monet painted the river scenes in 1871. A Zaandam map poster brings together the river, the dike streets, the station area and the polder ditches in a composition that is unmistakably Dutch.

Dike-side ribbons
Long streets follow the old dikes, with narrow plots running back from the water. This pattern forms the town's historic backbone.
Polder ditches
Straight drainage channels divide the surrounding land into narrow strips. On the map they create a fine, rhythmic texture unique to the Low Countries.

一张有意义的地图
Zaandam appeals to people who live along the Zaan, commute to Amsterdam from here, or simply love Dutch waterscapes. Add a title and subtitle, such as a street, a year or Zaanstad, and keep the coordinates line for a precise finish.
Blueprint turns the river and ditches into a crisp technical plan. Noir makes the water network stand out in pale lines on black. The $9 digital download includes six print sizes, including 50×70 cm and A2, as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF. Framed prints are available as well.
