Abu Jibeha is a town in Sudan's South Kordofan, on the plains east of the Nuba Mountains. From above, the settlement forms a loose grid of streets. It thins at the edges into scattered compounds and tracks. Around it, wide open land dominates the page and is broken mainly by roads, seasonal watercourses and the outlines of cultivated ground.
The area has long been associated with large-scale rain-fed farming, and the town serves as a local centre for the surrounding countryside. Dry-season channels wind across the land and mark where water collects in the rainy months.
