Afrânio Map Poster & Print
Afrânio lies in the far west of Pernambuco, in the semi-arid sertão near the borders with Piauí and Bahia and not far from Petrolina. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets on open, dry ground, with a clear centre and roads leading away across a vast landscape of scrubland and scattered farms.
The surrounding vegetation is caatinga, the dry forest typical of Brazil's northeastern interior, and the map beyond the town is sparsely drawn: dirt roads, field boundaries, small reservoirs built to hold water through the dry season, and isolated rural communities. This openness makes the urban core stand out sharply, like a knot in a long thread.
An Afrânio map poster captures the scale of the sertão in a single frame. The town takes up only a small area, and around it the long, thin lines of roads convey distance and space. It is a minimal, almost austere map, fitting for a place shaped by climate and by the persistence of the people who farm it.

Caatinga landscape
Dry scrub forest surrounds the town, rendered on the map as open space crossed by thin roads, which gives the composition its sense of distance and quiet.
Three-state corner
Afrânio sits near the meeting point of Pernambuco, Piauí and Bahia, and its regional roads connect the town with Petrolina and with communities across the state lines.
