Depression and escarpment
The oasis lies in a long trough below the desert plateau, and the steep escarpment on its eastern side draws a strong line across the map.

Al-Khārijah Map Poster & Print
Al-Khārijah is the Arabic name shared by the Kharga Oasis and its main town, the capital of Egypt's New Valley Governorate. This map is centred slightly south of the town and takes in the wider oasis depression. It is a long trough in the Western Desert, bounded by an escarpment to the east and north, with farmland in patches wherever water reaches the surface.
Seen from above, the oasis is a series of green islands rather than a single block. Fields, palm groves and villages cluster around wells and springs, linked by a road that runs the length of the depression toward Baris in the south. Between them, dunes and bare ground dominate, and the escarpment draws a strong line along the edge of the frame.
People have lived in the oasis since prehistoric times, and the Forty Days Road, a caravan route between Egypt and Sudan, passed through it. An Al-Khārijah map poster turns that setting into a sparse, open composition. It is a portrait of land and water in balance rather than a dense city plan.

Green islands
Farm plots and palm groves appear in separate clusters around springs and wells, scattered like islands across the open desert floor.
The long road south
A main road runs the length of the depression toward Baris. It links the scattered villages and follows the direction of the older desert routes.

This map is for those who think of Kharga as a landscape rather than just a town: travellers who crossed the Western Desert, researchers and people from the oasis villages. Its wide spaces and few lines make a quiet, contemplative picture.
You can rename the title, adjust the subtitle and edit the coordinates line, then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9 and include every size as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF.
