Aleysk Map Poster & Print
Aleysk is a town in Altai Krai, in southern Siberia, named after the Aley river that flows past it. It grew up in the early twentieth century around a railway station, and its street plan reflects that history: straight streets on a regular grid, with the railway cutting across the town.
The surrounding country is open steppe and farmland, one of the main grain-growing areas of the Altai region. On a map, this appears as a compact built-up area with long, straight roads running out across fields, and the meandering river adding the only natural curve to the scene.
An Aleysk map poster places the geometry of a planned railway town against the looser lines of the river and its floodplain. The result is a print with a clear, calm order, and a sense of the wide space that surrounds the town.

The Aley river
The river loops past the town in wide bends, its floodplain and old channels bringing soft, irregular shapes into an otherwise orderly map.
Steppe grid
Residential streets form a regular grid of long blocks, typical of Siberian towns laid out on flat ground, and they read cleanly on the print.
