River estuary
The Ariyankuppam River widens as it approaches the sea, forming backwaters and channels. Its shapes give the map a flowing, irregular edge.

Ariyānkuppam Map Poster & Print
Ariyānkuppam lies just south of Puducherry town, across the river that shares its name. On a map, it is a close network of streets and lanes on the southern bank, gradually giving way to coconut groves, fields and water. Toward the coast, the river widens into an estuary and backwaters before meeting the Bay of Bengal.
The area has a notable place in history. Arikamedu, on the river nearby, was an ancient trading port where archaeologists found evidence of contact with the Roman world, including Roman pottery. Today, the town is closely tied to Puducherry, linked by bridges and roads, while its southern and eastern edges remain much greener and more open.
An Ariyānkuppam map poster captures a place defined by water, where streets meet river, backwaters and sea. The composition is quieter than central Puducherry, yet more textured than open countryside. It suits people from the area and those who know the coast south of the city.

Arikamedu
The site of an ancient trading port lies on the river nearby. Excavations there revealed Roman pottery, evidence of long-distance trade two thousand years ago.
Link to Puducherry
Bridges and roads connect the town to Puducherry to the north. On the poster, they show clearly how the two settlements meet across the river.
