Ash Shaykh Zuwayd stands on the Mediterranean coast of North Sinai, between Al Arish to the west and Rafah to the east. It belongs to the narrow strip where the Sinai meets the sea. On a map, two parallel lines shape the town: the shoreline to the north and the coastal road that links the towns of the region.

The main road between Al Arish and Rafah runs through town parallel to the sea, and much of the street network is organised along it.
