Ashtarak Map Poster & Print
Ashtarak lies about twenty kilometres north-west of Yerevan, on the lower slopes of Mount Aragats. The Kasagh River runs through the town in a deep gorge, and that canyon is the key feature of the map. Neighbourhoods sit on the plateaus on either side, and the roads come together at the places where the gorge can be crossed.
Ashtarak is one of the oldest settlements in Armenia. Its three-arched stone bridge over the Kasagh dates from the seventeenth century, and small medieval churches, including the seventh-century Karmravor, stand on the cliffs above the river. Modern road bridges now span the gorge at greater heights.
An Ashtarak map poster shows the town as two halves joined across a narrow canyon, with the river winding between them. The result is a strong, simple composition that gives a real sense of this landscape.

Old stone bridge
The seventeenth-century three-arched bridge crosses the river low in the gorge, while newer bridges span it higher up.
Churches on the rim
Medieval churches sit on the cliffs above the Kasagh, marking the old core of the town on the edge of the canyon.

Ashtarak is closely tied to Yerevan yet has a character of its own, defined by stone, water and height. A map of the gorge and its bridges suits Armenians at home and abroad, as well as visitors who crossed that old bridge.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, including Armenian script, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Digital files are $9, and printed posters are also available.
